How the TikTok algorithm Works

According to TikTok, how likely your videos will be shown and how likely other users will be interacting with your content based on combinations of factors that include:

User Interaction: If users interact with a particular account, they’ll be more likely to see that accounts’ future videos. It’s the same with the content users tend to like, share, and comment most often.

Video Information: If a user engages with a specific hashtag, sound, or interest, he is likely to see content from that hashtag, sound, and part.

Account and Device Setting: Device type, language preference, and location also play an essential role in deciding what kind of videos you will see in your feed. Though TikTok lets users explore videos from people globally but shows users content created by people in their nearby locations.

The app lives upon the idea of trending hashtags and challenges. The users start by shooting one short video introducing the particular challenge. They dare their followers or friends to do the same, building a chain of video content.

The idea is — people make their version of the trending challenge often added with an optional twist. Dares, aka TikTok challenges, often come and go very quickly. Still, it’s the ones that are picked by the celebrities or the influencers which carry most of the potential of the continuously evolving video content.
